Mandatory Qualifications
Interns must be 16 years old by June 10th, 2025. River City High School students must have completed at least one course in one of WUSD’s Career Technical Education Pathways. View qualifying courses here. Yolo High School and Washington Middle College students must have a recommendation form filled out by a teacher or counselor. All participants must have also participated in or watched a recording of an online informational session about the internships offered by the Home Run team.
Responsibilities
Shop inventory & organization (this will allow you to familiarize yourself with specialty equipment specific to the automation industry)
Support the mechanical build-up of automation tooling and sub-components with the aid of design drawings and/or design files under the supervision of an on staff engineer or senior technician
Get exposure to a wide variety of industry segments. VC automation, Inc. services any industry looking to automate their processes.
Job-shadow our engineers and technicians to learn skills in a rapidly growing career field.
About the Business
Preferred Abilities
Fluent in English
Basic knowledge of hand tool use (e.g. screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.)
Ability to multi-task
A desire to learn about robotic systems from the ground up.
Learning outcomes
The intern will learn the complexity of engineering custom automation systems & solutions for the. manufacturing industry.
The intern will lead how to organize and control inventory racks of specialty automation equipment.
The intern will job shadow our staff employees and learn skills ranging from mechanical assembly (working with hand tools) to attending CAD design review meeting with our team.
The intern should learn how to operate as a team as an automated system integrator servicing manufacturing companies.
Special Project
VC Automation has multiple projects that will start yhe build process for Summer 2025. Our intern will have the opportunity to assist in building 4-5 projects, while also performing general shop duties (cleaning, organizing, labor support).
Additional Information
The intern will work in a warehouse/build shop doing various tasks, from inventory control to mechanical assembly.
*Fulfilling general shop tasks assigned by a supervisor. (i.e. organization, clean up, inventory control, etc.)
*Job shadowing.(Get first hand experience from engineers and technicians in the robotic automation industry. In fields related to mechanical assembly, programming (PLC & Robot), and some CAD design)
*Learning technical skills related to the automation integration industry. (tasks may include assembling toolings and sub-components that will be deployed to manufacturing customers)
This position involves working around machinery.
