Mandatory Qualifications

Interns must be 16 years old by June 10th, 2025. River City High School students must have completed at least one course in one of WUSD’s Career Technical Education Pathways. View qualifying courses here. Yolo High School and Washington Middle College students must have a recommendation form filled out by a teacher or counselor. All participants must have also participated in or watched a recording of an online informational session about the internships offered by the Home Run team.

Responsibilities

​To do a daily inspection for products, raw materials, and packaging with microbial testing, sensory testing and document checks in accordance with food-related regulations such as FDA, CDPH, and so on. All of the jobs will be taught by our specialists and you may be able to do some of them by yourself if you learn well and can do it completely. It is an attractive job for people who are interested in food-related jobs. ​

Special Project

There is no specific project planned, but the circumstances of the company are always changing and a project may occur as needed.

Additional Information

You will intake food ingredients via sauces and seasonings such as teriyaki sauce and tempura batter mix. Any food allergies will affect the job because a sensory test requires an inspector to taste it.

The intern will work in inspection rooms such as an incubator room, microbial testing room and daily inspection room, and occasionally in a warehouse to inspect received material, and in production areas to inspect and investigate some things.

This position involves working around machinery.
