Mandatory Qualifications
Interns must be 16 years old by June 10th, 2025. River City High School students must have completed at least one course in one of WUSD’s Career Technical Education Pathways. View qualifying courses here. Yolo High School and Washington Middle College students must have a recommendation form filled out by a teacher or counselor. All participants must have also participated in or watched a recording of an online informational session about the internships offered by the Home Run team.
Responsibilities
Assist in planning and implementing the daily program (including lesson plans) under the direction of the Head Teacher.
Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
Supervise the classroom when the Head Teacher is out of the room.
Help with general housekeeping.
Fully participate in special events, staff meetings, research projects, conference presentations or other assignments.
Assist Head Teacher with implementation of appropriate early childhood education experiences.
Help Head Teacher to supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the Multiple Intelligence of each child.
Help to maintain a neat and organized classroom.
Report to Head Teacher any problem which occurs or may occur with the children. Observe, record and report on the behavior of individual children as assigned.

Preferred Abilities
All interns that are applying for this position must LOVE children. They must be patient and flexible with the schedule and pacing of the program. We are a preschool so we are looking for an intern who may want to work with children in their career path.
Learning outcomes
The intern will learn how to interact with children by using problem solving skills.
The intern will learn how to communicate with the head teachers
The intern will learn how to be a part of a team with adults, parents and children.

Special Project
As an assistant preschool teacher, you will be guided in the principles of the Teaching Pyramid ,and reflect those principles while interacting with students. The head teacher will provide education in those principles and objectives to help you implement them. The headteacher will observe your interactions, and give you notes on how to continue to grow and understand early childhood education.

We are sharing our internship with Discovery Preschool from June 23rd - July 2nd.
