Mandatory Qualifications
Interns must be 16 years old by June 10th, 2025. River City High School students must have completed at least one course in one of WUSD’s Career Technical Education Pathways. View qualifying courses here. Yolo High School and Washington Middle College students must have a recommendation form filled out by a teacher or counselor. All participants must have also participated in or watched a recording of an online informational session about the internships offered by the Home Run team.
Responsibilities
Customer Service: Greet customers with a warm and friendly attitude as they enter the cafe. Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring special requests or dietary restrictions are noted. Assist in answering customer inquiries, providing information about menu items, ingredients, and specials. Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary.
Food Preparation and Presentation: Assist kitchen staff in preparing ingredients, including chopping vegetables, slicing meats, and preparing sauces. Learn and follow recipes to ensure consistent quality and presentation of menu items. Assist in plating dishes and garnishing plates to enhance visual appeal. Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation areas, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and storing ingredients properly.
Cafe Maintenance: Help maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout the cafe, including dining areas, restrooms, and kitchen. Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces. Monitor and replenish supplies such as napkins, utensils, and condiments as needed. Assist in restocking inventory and rotating perishable items to ensure freshness.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow interns and cafe staff to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.

Lenise's Cafe is a European Style Cafe with a wide variety of fresh food, pastries, and specialty drinks. We are proudly serving our community with passion, bringing the French experience in all of our dishes.

Additional Information
The goal is for you to learn new food and coffee skills you can utilize in future careers or jobs. If there are openings at the cafe there is also a possibility to be hired on.
